Yamaha 250, good motors? Opinions?

A buddy of mine that rigs high-end boats in Ft Lauderdale has been taking a lot of 2 stroke 250’s on trade for 4 stroke set-ups. He has 6 of em’ varying years. Does anyone have any thoughts on these as used motors? <br /><br />Mac

I bought a 2000 Edgewater 247 with a 250, 40 hours. Not a lot of hours over 3 years but none the less runs perfect. I've been reading the posts and having been a V8 Merc IO slave (finally got sick of hanging upside down for 2 hours just changing plugs, Sonic 30ss/ twin 320 efi small blocks) have learned a great deal (thanks rodbolt). Serviced the O2 sensor, engine mounted water seperating fuel filter, gear lube, plugs, water pump, etc. No complaints so far.

if maintained correctly the 250 was and is a good motor.
