Hello there . . . I have just bought a 30HP 2002 Yamaha, manual start with tiller control. In sunny Australia, it's model # is 30 DMH. Serial # 6J8L 307707 R.
I have previously owned OMC motors.
Maybe I'm having a blonde moment, but is there a special Yamaha trick to get the motor to tilt up ?.
I have pushed down the tilt lock lever, and have tried the shallow water levers as well, with no luck.
Is there a hidden locking device that I'm missing ?
After a pre-sale inspection, the lower unit was left only partially tightened, as I am looking to change the water pump/impeller. The shift linkage is not connected. Could this scenario preclude the motor from tilting ?
I have the Seloc manual, and the Yamaha owners manual from the net, and while they tell me the name of the levers . . they don't offer much more.
I'll bet it is a simple fix. Any ideas please ??
