Hi, I have an old 1986 Yam 3cyl Long shaft 40hp 2Stroke that sprays out a lot of 45 degree water when travelling over 15 knots. Transom height is 21 inches. I have been told I need to change the angle of the motor in relationship to the transom, others have said the prop is too deep.

Any ideas welcome - thanks

What kind of boat do you have? The engine probably needs to be mounted higher on the transom. There are a line of bolt holes on the transom bracket of the engine that allow for up/down adjustment. A good rule of thumb is to have the anti-ventilation plate 1 inch about the bottom of the boat, but in any case every boat is different and it's good to experiment with different height settings. The spray of water like that is usually an indication of a motor being mounted too low.
