Not sure what year, does not say "oil injection". but when I start it, sometimes the shifter gives of an annoying beeeep! It will stop if I let the eng run for about 45 seconds. Any Ideas? I'll go get the ser # and find out what year it is. If I recall, years ago when I borrowed this boat, it did the same thing, but then I didn't look into it.

My pee hole was clogged, now shoots H2O like it should. Could that be a temp sensor that was beeping? So now what, did I damage anything? Still runs strong, Hope it's alright, any advise would be great!

Without oil injection, the horn is sounding because the motor is hot or thinks it is. Servicing the cooling system is obviously in order.

Re: Yamaha 85 beeping

Motor ran great. After running for 15 min 3/4 throttle the beeping started after idling for 5 min while I got the truck backed in. H2O was shooting out the whole time like it should. I did notice that when idling, it doesn't come out as fast, but still was a strong stream. Is there any other way to ensure it's not getting too hot? Do the wires need to be checked or cleaned? Dirt Dobbers has a dozen or so nests under the cowl that my uncle cleaned off, that is what clogged the pee hole. Anything else to look for??

If the horn is beeping, then it is likely getting too hot. The tail tale being clogged has nothing to do with the engine getting too hot.

So what else can be done to keep it cool? Water is pumping fine, I assume it's doing it's job. Anything else to look for ?

Re: Yamaha 85 beeping

There are a number of things which can restrict the water passages. An engine which tends to have the problem at idle can be caused by a warped water pump housing. Restriction in the water passages such as the thermostat or corrosion in the head can also cause the problem.

Runs and cools fine until Idles for 5 min or so, then the beeping starts...I assume the H2O pump is not adjustable, can anything be done to keep cooler while idling?

i have a 4 stroke suzuki , it is hard to cloge the water flow, water shooting out or not , it will get water. things hat can my engine beep is over revolation, overheating , low volatge , low oil. if you have not replacet your impler for awhile , it is a good idea . mine says to change it every year or 200hrs.
