Yamaha 8HP Stalls at WOT

I bought my Yamaha 8hp new in 1987 and it's giving me trouble for the first time in 21 years. It starts right up. Runs fine. Then when I give it WOT it runs great for a minute or two, then shuts down. Starts up again. Runs rough. Leave it for 20 minutes and it does that same thing all over again.

I've changed the gas tank, filled it with new gas, changed the hose fittings and priming bulb. Even replaced the spark plugs.

Any ideas?

It sound like you need to clean your carb

Thanks. That was my first thought too.

Would you remove the carb, or can it be done on the motor?

If I remove the carb, should also rebuild it?

remove your carbs and tear it down,
