yamaha 9.9 oil?gas?collecting under carb

After using my 9.9 kicker I tilt it out of the water. When I go to use it again a pool of gas/oil? has collected under the carberator opening. Also a skim of gas/oil? is constantly around the leg when down. Also the primer bulb never gets hard- just squishy firm - Needless to say the motor runs great. Starts first pull three times a week!

is the oil level normal? if the check valves in the primer are not real good it can stay squishy. check all the crankcase breather tubes. any vapors will collect and condense. you may have a problem and may not. any other symptoms ?

I have replaced the primer hose, tank, connections- the works. I thought this could be the problem, but unfortunately not. I chatted up the yamaha guys here in Victoria but they were a little stumped. If it is the breather tubes can I blow them out or should they be replaced. How can I diagnose ?

it's a 9.9 1994 yamaha 4-stroke I don't have a model number at the house but the serial # is 306615<br />(that S# looks a little short to me ) Thanks for your help. I am impressed by your posts 4428! Keep it up ! BoatAngel ?!!!

i love fixing stuff customers screw up. usually it makes 2 problems. the original and whatever they broke fixing it. back on track. if you have a new primer and it wont go hard chances are you have a stuck open needle in your carb fuel bowl.<br />this would lend itself to easier starting of this engine because they love extra gas to get going. could be you are making oil too which will be a whole new set of problems if you dont take it to a dealer.
