I do some heavy load work and Have a 13.25x17 pitch yamaha aluminum semi clever. It turns about 5200 rpm at 37 mph at wot and full trim with 3 or 4 people and 5000 with one more person. It needs too be replaced. It has been repaired and bends easy because the blades are thinner after the the repair. I know that a 15p would raise me up to around 5600 rpms. Was thinking about a turning point legacy 13.25x17 as some have said these props spin up easy but some have said that turning point props are a little inconsistent. I dont really like the yamaha props. So i guess would the solas in 15p 4blade or 3blade be the best choice or some other make and pitch of props. Thanks Kelly

The semi cleaver isn't the first choice so you'll have to test with some props more suited to your rig. You're probably in the ballpark at 15-17" pitch on that boat with heavy loads. For consistancy from prop to prop and year to year I'd look closely at Stiletto.

Thanks for the advise I will do some study on the stiletto. I would like to have a good aluminum for this application. It involves snagging for paddle fish on Lake of the Ozarks and sometimes we get hung up and that involves a lot of forward and reverse shifting to get untangled and get the fishing line out of the way so want something a little easier on the lower unit, not so much rotating weight. Maybe just a crazy thought.

I've heard a lot of good and bad about Turning Point, my prop repair guy wont touch them, for whatever that's worth. I've got a 18ft AL with a 90 Evinrude, so somewhat similar. I bought a 17 pitch Turning Point Hustler and it actually turned at lower RPM vs my OMC 17 pitch AL prop (Everybody told me I'd get another 200RPMs with it). I went to a 15 pitch Stainless prop very similar to the Stiletto and it's worked well for me, got me the RPM's I needed with a loaded boat. I'm still reluctant to use Stainless though, that thing does weigh a ton vs AL.

If you want more RPM's, which is the way I read your post, the 4 blade may not be the way to go unless you drop more pitch, possibly 13.

Find a prop shop that will let you do some testing, or watch EBAY and start a collection...that's what I'm doing.
