Yamaha 90TLRQ enrichment solenoid

So i have the carbs rebuilt on this engine and it seemed to be running way to rich. Checked the emergency enrichment switch on the center carb and it was in normal position....turned it to closed and the engine cleaned up and ran great...turned it back to normal and it again went rich even though the engine was warmed up. Took off the enrichment solenoid and notice that the needle is all the way extended....is there a way to properly test this solenoid to see if it is defective?

let it cool off for about 30 minutes,attach the blue lead to 12V positive and the black lead to negative, rod will extend. measure both before and after attaching the leads to the battery.
extended shuts off the enrich ment.
manual close shuts off the passage manually.
sounds like the enrichment pump diaphram may have failed.
not included in the carb kit and if its installed when the carb gets soaked it may fail.
