Yamaha cmh 6 and 8hp 2 stroke

Hi. Does anyone know the difference that makes a Yamaha 6 into an 8. The cubic capacity, compression ratio seem to be the same. Is it possibly the carburettor thats different. The carb is damaged on my 6 and has to be replaced. If it is simply a matter of changing for an 8hp carb I might as well do that. Would be interested to hear from someone who knows more about it. Welcome to the forum!!
On my Evinrude 9.9 to 15hp conversion it needed a carburator and the reed valve assembly replaced. I'm sure someone on here will know for certain.
