I took a test drive on a Parker 2320 with a 250 Yamaha. The controls were Digital Electronic controls. Very smooth. Sweet. How do they work?

No kidding. Very well is an understatement from a rookies, (such as me) standpoint. Is there a wire, wires, cables... just what makes this think click, or shift?

Re: Yamaha Digital Electronic Controls

Yamaha calls it, Digital Electronic Control.
Volvo, mercury, mercruieser,BRP and a few others, have their own names.
generically its called fly by wire.
basically the control box has its own ECU, it communicates with the engines ECU or the power train ECU or both.
shift and throttle commands are sent via a twistd pair digital CAN buss and the contro ECU "talks" with the engine ECU so the commands given by the helmsman are carried out by the engine.
so far it all works very well however it is a tad pricey.
however its kinda how the entire industry is going.
