Yamaha Digital speedometer

Can someone explain to me how this works and why it wouldn't?

I cleaned out the little hole in front of the lower unit and blew air in it... felt likewater was moving through it then it sounded like the water blew out?

if you blew from motor toward the gauge, u could have just ruined the gauge

Do you know how to disconnect the wiring at the speedo. The connector seems to be inside the case but I do not see anyway to open the case.

Follow it back, they unplug by the throttle control or key switch
