Yamaha F 90 oil level

I have a 2010 Yamaha F90 with 12 hours. I fully drained the oil with the engine in the upright position until no more oil would come out. The manual calls for 4.55 quarts without the oil filter. Since I replaced the oil filter, I added 4.75 quarts. I ran the engine with the muffs for 10 minutes, waited 10 more minutes and with the engine completely upright, the oil dipstick shows one each above the max allowed capacity. What could be the issue?

Re: Yamaha F 90 oil level

when I drained my F90 I moved the tilt from level, to all in while parked on a hill w the stern on the downhill side. More oil came out after it stopped while it was level.I believe the best way to drain it is to siphon or suction it out through the dipstick tube so as not to wear out the threads in the the cast aluminum drain, I would siphon oil out through the dipstick hole till its at the correct level, and they make fluid changing pumps to use instead of the drain plug next time.

Re: Yamaha F 90 oil level

I followed your advice to drain some oil, bringing within the safe level, I siphoned oil with a hose from the dipstick tube. Thanks for the tip.
