Buying a SeaSwirl 1851 and have the choice of these two motors. The Honda being a couple of grand more. Would it be worth it to spend the extra money for the Honda or stick with the Yamaha? Thanks.

Not only is the Honda many more bux, it is over 100lb. heavier. If those are your only options, I would go with the Yammy.

If you have the option, look into the much lighter BF150, the Suzi/Johnson DF140, or the new Yamaha F150.

Red sky at night. . .
JB

Re: Yamaha F115 or Honda BF130

I think both engines are excellent, present on the market long enough to be almost without any fault. They are very robust and durable. I think if transom of your boat
can stand it, I would rather buy Honda BF130. But decision is yours.
Did you notice that there are a lot of news in this class of outboards?
Honda offers two new outboards:
-BF 135 which is much better than BF 130, but brand new on the market and therefore unproved in praxis
-BF 150
Yamaha also offer new F 150 for next season.
In Europe in this class is till now Suzuki with DF 140 absolute winner.
If you can wait one year, best choice would probably be one of the new models from Honda and Yamaha.
