Hello all,
I have a 2003 Yamaha 115 four stroke. Occasionally the trim motor/pump will run for a second or 2 when I turn the engine off. I doesn't do it every time but does do it at least once every time I go out. The dealer has no ideas and of course it won't do it in the shop. Any ideas anyone??? Thanks...W

Trim switch in control sticking or bad pan switch. If they can't find it make sure you put a battery switch in so you can turn the power off.

hello
if its only at engine shut down it could be a trim relay. are you positive its the trim motor? the injectors cycle at shut down and make a whirring sound.
the trim relays dont fail often but they do. I have had several bad ones in the past 2 years. they would trim up all by themselves. install a battery switch and wire it so the auto bilge pump goes to the batt term on the switch and keep the switch off if your not in the boat.
good luck but this one may take a while to find.

Re: Yamaha F115 Trim Motor

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It's definately the trim motor; the engine moves! It seems completely random but I'll keep a close eye on it and see if I can detect any kind of pattern. I assume you're suggesting I put the battery switch in so that I can cut the power if it should decide to run continuously? Thanks...W

hello
then disconnect the power feed to the pan trim switch. if it continues try running it with the control box trim switch power feed unhooked if it still does it with both red leads removed from the switchs you will have a good idea the relay is failing.
good luck and keep posting
