Yamaha F25 manual starter

I have a 2000 model F25ESHY, electric start only. I am understanding that some of the Mercury 25 4 stroke twin cylinder engine parts are interchangeable. I'm trying to add a backup recoil starter to this motor, Yamaha dealer says it's unavailable (or more specifically eternally backordered). I was hoping someone on this site would know if perhaps a Mercury version would interchange? Perhaps someone might know what model Merc I should be looking for?

You might find that if you take the cover off the top of the flywheel that the flywheel has a groove and notch for a rope start. If that's the case, all you need is couple feet of nylon rope with a knot in one end.

I know that. But it has little relevance as to whether the Merc recoil works on Yamaha or not.

While this is not a repair question I think you would get better results in both the
Merc and Yamaha forums as you cleartly need either a Merc and/or Yammy response.
Tell them I suggested the double post under the circumstances.
Then they can yell at me.I suspect it may be the same motor the question is can the recoil simply be bolted on or are there extra parts required.
