Hi I am looking at buying this engine everything seems to be running fine but one thing that is bothering me is that he advertised it as a 2005 engine but the date clearly says 2008 am I missing something? I attached an image of the engine plates

If the sticker on the clamp bracket shows two digits for a month and two digits for a year then that is its birthday.

99 percent of motor owners have no idea as to what model they own or what month and year it was made in.

makes you wonder if the bracket was replaced or if the owner just has no clue what the motor is.

Should have some paper work stating info if the motor is titled in your state

Another possibility is to look for the alternate serial number label on the block. It is usually in the vicinity of the electric starter motor. Get those numbers and we can help pin point the year of manufacture.
