Help,
My 2003 F6 is really got me frustrated. I will not run unless the choke is on. Once I push the choke in it accelerates then dies. I thought it may be because the carb needed cleaning so I removed it, cleaned a bunch of crap out of the bottom of the bowl and reassembled it. Tried to to run it again and the same thing happens. It will idle with the choke on only and dies once it is taken off. Any ideas?

Thanks

dont just clean the bowl, clean every hole that you can find.if you see a hole put the carb cleaner hose in it and spray away. But wear saftey glasses cause you never know where the carb cleaner will come out(trust me carb cleaner in eye = much pain and a trip to the eye doctor)if it runs with the choke on that indicates a lean condition and the choke is making up for it.and that means that somwhere one little bitty hole is clogged up and giving you grief.hope this helps

the carb is the last item in the fuel sytem. if i ever come across a poor running condition due to crap in the carb, everything is removed and cleaned. that way the customer doesnt return after running his engine 30 minutes and the dirt i missed in the fuel pump is now blocking his carb again :)

good advice Benc!I have cleaned my carbs 3 or 4 times due to that reason.I found all kinds of crap in my fuel pump(that ended up in my carbs,AFTER I had cleaned them twice)Oh well, you live and learn and get good practice.I can now take off and put back my carbs with my eyes closed, in the dark, with my wife and kids asking if Im done yet 15 times in a row. :D :D
