Yamaha Harness question?

As you can see from my posts I am putting a Yammie on my boat. It is a 93 250HP and I have 99 harnesses and guages. My latest question is the plugs on the engine and oil harness are different. The engine has blue, black/red, black and yellow wires and the oil harness has blue, black/red, black and brown wires. I want to cut the ends off and splice them together but the yellow would have to go to the brown. It seems logical to do it but when it comes to oiling an outboard I want to be sure. I have already driven my local dealer crazy and bought everthing I could from them so now I am asking here. Alakaskiff, jump in any time please
