Anybody know anything about these? I never heard of Yamaha having an I/O. It is in a 1989 Century.
Are they reliable? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

All the info you need:

Run away as fast as you can.
With the exception of one person,(Captn. Ken) parts and service are completely non existent.
Yamaha I/O bailed from the US market and left their customers SOL.

Of course the Yammiw holds up with good maintenance. They ALL do. But when it comes time for a simple manifold replacement.......

Re: Yamaha I/O

I keep a jar of vasoline on the counter for my Yamaha customers. Actually its getting so that the newer engines are much more expensive to repair than the older ones. Its getting rare for a customer to get out of the shop for less than a grand now. Let a HPDI go down or a Mercruiser MPI crap out and you'll see what I mean. Prices may go down once I get my island in the Bahamas paid off. Was informed last month that Mercury is gonna ditch the DDT and go with all laptop based testing system. Hope they follow Yamaha and use one test cord for all engines and not a different connector for each like the DDT.
