Yamaha impeller fried

My 2002 Yamaha F15 kicker motor overheated as I noticed the red light going off. I shut off the engine and later removed the impeller. It had no blades left on it. I ordered a new one and will replace. I also removed the hose at the "pee hole" and blew compressed air through to see if I had any obstructions which i don't think I do.

My questions is I do not know how long it was not pumping water before I saw the overheat light blinking and shut the motor off. Is there any other dmage that may have occured besides the impeller?

Probably not, but try to flush out cooling system for any pieces of the old impeller blades. Maybe check/clean/replace thermostat while you're doing this. Good Luck!

Did the vanes or blades melt or did they just break off?

I had a 35 Johnson that picked up sea weed and melted the impellor down to a blob because the alarm did not sound, I just happened to look back and saw it not peeing and shut it off. I made it back to ramp after letting it cool several times. but lost compression , blew head gasket. But it would start and run.

Either way there is a good chance you have hurt the motor as you have no idea how hot and how long you ran it that way.
Do a leak down test to see how the cylinders are sealing and look for broken rubber pieces in the cooling passages if they all broke off and you have not found all of them
