HELLO ALL..................I have a problem with my engine which when ever the knock sensor is connected ................the engine drops cylinder power on power up and will not runn full power if I disconnect the knock sensor wire the engine runs great but idles high and I don't get full rpm as I use to get..................I already put a new cdi unit and new knock sensor and check wire between knock sensor and cdi unit all good..................I check all other sensors on the engine and they within the range as the book say it should be...........also I have the check light for codes...........there are no flashes..................can anyone help as to where I should go from here......................

maybe the motor is knocking and the system is trying to keep it from destroying pistons

No the engine runs very smoothly. The knock senser is design to send a small ac voltage to the CDI unit when it pick up fuel ingition knock At this point the CDI unit changes the engine timing to take away the knocking. This is the way the knock senser works. But I am not sure why the CDI unit is dropping power on the cylinders on power up when the knock senser is connected. Maybe someone who has the knowledge from Yamaha technician of how the program in the CDI. Unit is design to work in relation to its senders around the engine to obtain ignitions control

wish I had a Yamaha knowledgeable technician in my area.......there is none......... then I will not be on this site looking for info...........the best Yamaha Tec in my area is myself........but my issues now is far more than my knowledge and the workshop manual ........speaking to a Yamaha Tec in the USA they needs 100 per hour and some of them knows less than I already know..........hard to find a good one...............sad
