I know there are a ton of questions about this, and I think I have read just about all of them. I am still having trouble getting my gauge to work.

I have a 2001 yamaha 60, and got the gauge used off of a 2001 90hp yamaha.

First, the gauge doesn't have dip switches, it has a dial on back that can be set to 4, 6, 8 or 12. I put it on 6 because that is what my original yamaha tach I pulled off was set to. Not sure if it is correct or not.

Second, the wires on the gauge are as follows.

1st harness has a pink, orange and black wire. The forth spot is empty.

2nd harness has a green wire and a green/red wire.

Then there are five individual wires which are yellow, black and green coming from same outlet as all the harness wires. There is also a blue and black wire going to another hole in back of the gauge. Pretty sure those last two are for the gauge illumination, and that works.

As for the harness wire from the gauge to the motor, there are two harnesses on it. One is a 4 prong plug with green wire and a green/red wire. The other two holes are blank. The other plug has a pink, orange, gray and black wire.

Then the two harnesses on the engine. One has the green and green/red wire with two blanks. No problem there. BUT, the other has three wires that are pink, black and gray. The pink and black wires go to the trim sensor, and the gray wire disappears into the engine. There is no orange wire. My trim sensor only has two wires. I checked the sensor with a ohm meter and it is operating properly.

I have tried just about every combination of wires to the pink, orange and black wires on the gauge, but the trim gauge will not function. It always shows the trim all the way down.

Can anybody give me a clue as to what wires go where?

I should have noted the that harness on the gauge did not match the harness from the engine. The engine harness had spade type male and female plugs, and the gauge harness had round male and female plugs. Maybe the 90hp gauge harness is different than the 60hp gauge harness??
