I needed a 25hp 20" 4 stroke, I looked around and ended up getting a new '05 Yamaha 25hp manual start for around $2600. Is this a good motor? My other choice was a new '03 Suzuki for the same money but it seemed more complicated with 3 carbs and it was also 65lbs heavier. Hopefully I made the right decision, I could not find anything on here good or bad about either motor.

Yamaha definatley has a much better reputation. They also are much more common, making parts cheaper and easier to find. But reliability wise, I think that they're all the same.

They both make good motors but I'd take the Yamaha for 2 years newer and 65 .lbs lighter at the same price any day.

Thanks for the replies, picked it up last night. Felt like 1000lbs when I had to carry it from the truck to the basement for winter storage, I doubt I would have been able to carry the Suzuki, as I could barely manage the Yamaha.
