Yamaha Outboard Year of Manufacture?

Hi can anyone help.

I have just purchased a Glastron SSV163 which has a Yamaha V4 115hp outboard, I am trying to find out what year the engine is as I need to buy a tilt and trim for the engine.

The identification plate on the engine shows:
115AETO
6ES L 359296

It would help if you posted the country you are in as there are North American models and "World" models. They are different. You might want to look at the model number again just to verify that it is correct.

I am in the United Kingdom, however I believe the boat was originally imported from the USA. Dont know whether the engine was imported with the boat or purchased in the UK.

Apologies for being a novice but that is why i am posting with my question.

to identify foreign motors go to : marinshopen.se then click on yamaha and scroll down to the prefix listing....there is no 6ES listed but a 6E5 comes up as a 1981 or newer 115A

It's a 1986 model. (J)
