Yamaha problems

Ok so I have a 2003 Yamaha 115 2 stroke. It will start up right away with no issues. It idles with no issues. But when I go wide open throttle (wot) to get up on plane it will die immediately. But if I go wot and when I here it start to sound like it is going to die I pull back on the throttle and then immediately go wot again it will run like nothing is wrong and will stay running, get up on plane, and never die. But I always have to work the throttle that way to keep it from dying. Has anyone had this issue. Im going to replace my fuel filter and fuel water separator this weekend but I was wanting to see if anyone has anything additional I could do to fix this problem

Clean the Carbs. Yamaha had some Red Gasket Sealer around the Needle and Seat, that would come dislodged and float around in the bowls, often plugging the Main Jet. Or just a semi plugged Main Jet will also act that way.

Not good either way, Lean equals Heat, Heat equals Holes in the top of the pistons.

Would it still run normal with holes in the top of the pistons. Because it seemed to me that once the motor got all the fuel it was needing to get on plane it would run like a champ. It wasn't running rough or anything along those lines. It was if there was never an issue

My guess would be the off idle passages have a problem.
they dump extra fuel as the throttle is advanced.
could be they are OK but other passages have some plugging so the motor is still not getting as much fuel as needed to accelerate properly.
doing a very good carb clean would be a good idea.

would not hurt to check timing with a timing light to make sure it is advancing within spec also

the other post is just saying running a motor with problems such as lean on fuel can cause holes in pistons if you keep running it
