I have a 1996 Yamaha Saltwater Series II 150hp. We took it out the other day and it ran fine all morning. After fishing one spot for a while, we decided to move. The engine cranked up fine, boat planed out fine and when I was running about half throttle, the engine rpms started to drop. I stopped the boat and the engine was still running. I put it in neutral and reved the motor up and it seemed fine. I took off again, the boat planed out good and then at half throttle, the engine rpms started to drop again. I went full throttle at that point, and it never increased. I backed down again to idle and the engine cut off. When I tried to restart the engine, the batteries acted like they were dead. I then tried to straight wire a battery to the starter, and it turned the motor over fine, but it still did not start.

Any ideas?

Nevermind guys, I found the problem. The oil pump went out and I fried the engine.
