I recently bought a 1989 Yamaha 90HP 90ETLF that had been sitting for many years. Tilt and trim does not work, after troubleshooting found that the motor is bad. Pulled the motor and found the internals to be heavily corroded. The motor is controlled by three wires, not a lot of options for buying a new one, and they are expensive. I found that 1992 they started making motors controlled by two wires. The newer model has different relay than the older model. Now I found a conversion kit for the newer style but it's not oem and it requires adding two additional relays, fuse, wires, etc. Last thing I want is to add more electrical components that can fail and junk up the motor. My question, will a 1992 relay part # 6H1-81950-00-00 and motor part # 6H1-43880-02-00 work with my existing controls? I know the motor is a bolt on fit. Pull my old relays and put the new model in that location. I checked the lowering cowl t&t switch for old and new, both have the same part number. So I am assuming the control wires coming off the new relay will hook up to my existing harness? Blue to blue, green to green, no splicing or cutting existing wire harness required?

All aftermarket motors are the 2 wire with a conversion kit adding more relays, wires, and fuses for interfacing with the 3 wire relays
