Maiden voyage today to break in both the Yamaha F150 and T8. F150 ran great but could not get the T8 started. Starter was turning over easily but motor wouldn't start. Here are the things I checked, hopefully someone can come up with something that I overlooked:
Yamaha T8 2006, electric start, tilt & remote
- Kill switch clip in place
- Remote throttle in neutral
- Fuel line bulb pumped until hard
- Choke pulled fully out
- Gas getting past the fuel filter (disconnected the fuel inline and gave the bulb a pump and gas was going through the filter)
- Spark plug wires connected and seated at plugs
- Oil full
- Water was coming out the pee hole when the starter was cranking.

Any ideas guys?

if the T-8 sat long check the carb drain and insure you actually have fuel in the fuel bowl. the T8 carb passages are so tiny it takes nothing to clog them.

I got the same set up on my Northriver Seahawk. Nice combinations for sure.

You mention that the choke was pulled out but did you turn the throttle to about mid way and leave it there while you were pushing the start button? Mine will only start that way and then I turn the throttle down when she fires up.

Ah - I'm sure that's it -- I did not have the throttle pushed forward! I also just checked the manual and found that the to push the throttle forward and give is gas in neutral you have to push in the center button on the side of the shifter.

My last boat had a lever that you had to lift to give it gas in neutral. Yamaha cleverly disguises (at least for me) the neutral throttle button.

When all else fails, read the manual!

Thanks for the help guys.
