I have a new to me 2002 Yamaha Ox66 225 with what I believe is a standard Yamaha OEM digital multifunction tachometer gauge that the previous owner installed. Well as it has probably happened to every one at some point my tach is not functioning right and I'm not sure what to check. The tach my work totally fine sometimes and other times it just reads zero so I am sure it is just a faulty connection. I attached a pic of the gauge I have.
I took a look at the back of the gauge itself for bad connections but the back of this thing is all sealed up - my former boat had all screw on wire connections in the back. I believe the tach wire should be solid green so I will try and trace that as it comes out of the back of the gauge. Where is the wire on the engine itself so that I can look at that end? Is there an inline fuse along this green wire somewhere?
