I think that would stretch the limits of what I would be comfortable running. I have converted numerous small outboards to tiller, but 105hp is gonna be hard to hold on to. Is that the 150 powerhead which=105hp out the pump? Man thats seems kinda risky with a homemade tiller. If you do continue with this project at least make sure that you install a lanyard switch and keep it clipped to you while running that beast.
P.S. What kind of boat do you plan to run it on?

Good lord, I could not imagine 250hp on tiller. I bet your forearms are about the size of popeye:D

nope with a jet you don't have the torque of a prop and a 250 jet has roughly the same hp at the noozle as a 200. here is a link to a buddy's of mine 20 ft sled he just made with a merc 200 jet on the back. he is goofing around in the skagit river in washington. we use these boats with jets for fishing the rivers for steelhead and salmon. http://media.putfile.com/Boat-Video-21

Wow, I had no idea you could hook up a motor like that with a tiller. I worry what happens if you hit something and it knocks the tiller out of your hand? Those must be pretty heavy boats to go only 35mph with a 200hp motor on it! Looks fun though, especially the salmon fishing! :)

Most of the time we are running up river against the current wich at times is pretty dam fast. On open water or going down river you can go alot faster 45mph +. And 35mph+ in sometimes as shallow as 6" of water is all the faster I want to go. Its not bad controling something that big if you have the nozzle adjusted right you can even take your hand off the handle for a second or two.
