Tilt would not go down so I towed the boat out of the water and checked the tilt fluid but it seems OK, level at the screw level.
In reading thru the Yamaha tilt trim threads here, I found that the relief valve sometimes goes bad on these units so I opened the valve and let the motor down. Now the motor tilts up and down with no issue.
Before I relaunch the boat, please let me know what other steps I should take, i.e. Am I correct to assume that the fluid level should be level with the screw hole? Does the relief valve need to be replaced or is bleeding just necessary sometimes? What else must I do before I relaunch?
Thanks in advance!
