Yamaha tilt/trim question?

I have a 1990 115 2 stroke and the tilt/trim motor is dead.
I have all the bolts out that hold the whole unit in the transom clamp but I can't get it out of there...
Please tell me I don't have to remove the motor from the boat to change the trim motor!!!
