Yamaha Mod F40TLRY, 06/1999, 67C L 500139 T.

I have a patoon boot and use a romote control. According to the Yamaha Owner Manual, Warning System, I am suppose to have warning indicators and a buzzer. The warning lights do not exist.

The buzzer has activated on this engine. The oil system is full and the water is pouring out of the holes. I have back flushed the cooling system. The oil filter and oil is always changed. I have about 50 hours on this motor each year which is a total of about 250 hours.

When I start this engine everything is normal and the buzzer is off running at lower RPM. As soon as I increase RPM, over 4,000, the buzzer will activate. After buzzer activation I turn the motor off. When I restart the buzzer is off till I reach higher RPM,s.

I would appreciate help with this problem.

What is a good repair manual for this engine at a reasonable price.

dontworry :)

thats cause it was rigged on the cheap. if it had been rigged with the yamaha multifunction tach you would have a visual indicate. sounds more like an overheat. but without a visual indicate its mostly a guess. when was the last cooling system tuneup ?

rodbolt,

New to this site. Yes, this was done by a 5 star Yamaha registered mechanic. This is only one of many rip offs by this person. I recently changed the prop and found the new prop was used among other things. I have 45 years experience as a machinist/toolmaker with many years repairing my own auto,s and all kinds of cylinders, gearboxes, pumps, etc.

This machanic left town and is now helping the good people at the NC shore.

I would appreciate your help on how to solve and check this problem. I do need a good manual. This engine has been taken care of but I have not changed the impeller.

dontworry

try to find a multifunction tach. it will plug into the existing harness if they used it. it came in the rigging kit. the oil pressure switch is a normally open switch. I cant remember on the temp but I think it was normally open as well. some of the EFI motors use a sensor rather than a switch but I belive yours is a switch.
engine temp should not exceed about 170*F and the oil pressure switch should be closed over about 2.4 PSI.
you would be amazed how many so called 5 star dealers do shoddy crap work. I see it daily. thats part of why this is going to be my last year twisting wrenches. I cant take the crapola anymore. people pay good money for a techs best guess and that aint good enough. most places its all about the money I based my reputation on its all about the quality of the repairs and rigging. so far its served me well. but odds are its due for a complete system tuneup to include the water pump kit and t-stat and pressure control valve if used. I cant remember. I dont see many little motors. mostly V6 and V6 twins with the odd tripple tossed in.

Yes, know what you are talking about. Retired at 62 because of the same reasons. I figured America did not need my skills anymore as everything can be fixed by a computer or thrown in the garbage and replaced. We were getting engineers out of college that did not know the difference between a male and female coupling and did not read blueprints.

Anyway, at least I now have a place to start.

Can you recommend a decent manual that will not cost me a fortune.

Thank you,
