I have a 1998 225hp yamaha. I seem to have difficulty removing the yamaha weater separating fuel filter with the standard oil filter wrench. Is there any special technique I could use for this procedure without emoploying King Kong?

yep
try using oil on the gasket at installation and hand tighten only.
some models, racors in particular seem to get tighter all by themselves

King Kong may not be able to save you.Brute strenghth won't win this one.A good strong steady pull, sustaining pressure will usually work.

And yes,oil the gasket on the next filter.

DHP

Use 2 filter wrenches, 180 degrees apart, for more leverage and it makes tight filters loosen a lot easier.
