Re: Yamalube 2M???

I would say for an outboard manufacturer to put there name on it it would be good. I have a Merc, & the owners manual states use Merc oil (of course they would) but if unavailable use oil from another out board manufacturer. These guys don't want to get a bab name for their products, they want you to come back & buy another, & recomend their products to some one else too. BTW that sounds like a good deal on the oil, is that available to anyone. Joe

Re: Yamalube 2M???

looking at the site you posted it does not specify its a semi-synthetic. it looks like the same yamalube 2M thats been on the market several years. whats the part number on the bottle and I can verify whether or not its a semi-synthetic. we hear roumors of yamaha going to it but so far we have not seen it. but the yamaha 2M is good stuff.

Re: Yamalube 2M???

shoot me the part number . if its avalible maybe we will start getting it. at the last fuel school in jan of o4 they said something about it. seems the HPDI motors actually run better with the semi-synthetic just like the optimax and the Ficht/e-tec motors. but so far we have not seen any and we buy 200-250 cases and about 18 drums of 2M a year. from what they say at the factory yamaha is trying to use just one oil to cover all the two strokes. other brands have different iols for different models of their two stroke lines. I have several HPDI customers that once out of warrenty they switched to synthetic with positive results so far.

The quart bottles I have clearly say semi synthetic on front label. The gallons my dealer up here sells do not, so I think it may be soemthing new.

Re: Yamalube 2M???

Yamaha 2M oil contains a healthy amount of PIB (polyisobutylene) with is the low smoking synthetic additive that is also in Johnson/Evinrude XD-50, Pennzoil semi-synthetic, and Merc's Premium Plus. Each oil has varying amounts but all make the oil a semi-synthetic.

Re: Yamalube 2M???

PIB replaces the bright stock found in regular TCW 3 oils. It is being used alot in both air cooled and marine oils in the last few years to bring them up to the latest specs while controlling smoke and deposits.<br /> I have found some PIB blend oils to be actually cleaner than straight ester oils.
