Yamha 150 tach

My brother just had a rebuilt Yamaha 150 installed on his early 70s Mako. He needs to do a break in but, the tach is not working. He says all idiot lights come on with key before starting. Tach has no reading at all with engine running. I know on an OMC to check all connections for cleanliness, etc. I want to try and help him out without getting into it to far. The shop that did the work is many miles from his home and he's trying to avoid dragging it all the way back there. Any advice on what to look for?

Re: Yamha 150 tach

Update: the motor is a mid 90s, the tach didn't work with the old 90 hp either.

Very good chance the tach is bad. Be sure the green wire is plugged up to the tach. This is the tach sending lead.
