I have a 2004 Polar with twin Yamaha 115 hp EFI 4-strokes. I got water in my gas and the engine stalled. Came in on one engine; the effected engine would not re-start. I know it was water because the red disc in the filter bowl floated up. Since then I pumped the gas through a water separating filter and back into the gas tank (150 gal) until I stopped getting water. Then I started working on getting the engine started. Oddly, only the starboard engine got water; both engines run off the same tank. I assume the starboard pickup is lower in the tank.
I checked the fuel pressure on the effected engine and it was 43 psi. I then assumed/guessed it was the sparkplugs then so replaced them. Now it starts but runs rough. I pulled the spark plugs back out and #1 was dark black. #2 and #3 looked normal. #4 was slightly dark. The engine "roughnes" sounded like it was probably only missing on one cylinder. Also, there is a tapping noise that sounds like a valve but could be an injector.
My question is, could the water in the gas cause an injector to stick? Am I right in assuming that it is the #1 injector that is causing the problems? I am planning to switch injector 1 and 2 to see if that turns spark plug number 2 dark but haven't gotten to that yet. Also, is there a way to clean injectors or is it better to just replace them?
