Yami T8, no reverse

I just turned my Yamaha T8 in to get the water impeller repaced. When I picked her up, I noticed the prop wouldn't spin in reverse under a load, the motor would just race. Seems to work fine in forward. Any ideas on how to fix it and what may have happened?<br /><br />Thanks

My GUESS would be that when the lower unit was put back on that they didnt get the splines on the shift shaft lined up and that it is not going all the way into reverse.If it was fine before you took it in,then I would take it right back to them and explain your problem.

The prop will spin in reverse if the throttle is at a real slow setting or is out of the water. When you put any kind of pressure on the prop, it will just slip.

quitr dinking with it and take it back. if its a partial clutch dog engagement and you continue trying it can lead to permmant damage. someone has mis-adjusted the shift link on reassembly.
