My tilt switch on the motor itself had been acting a bit weird lately. When I push it to the "up" position, most of the time it raises without issue. Every once in a while nothing will happen for about two seconds and then it will raise. Down seems to work every time. Any suggestions?
Yami 05, 150 four stroke.

I had a similar problem where the switch intermitantly worked. Holding in for a few seconds it worked. The switch is $80 AUD a bit excessive so I decided to pull it apart and found there was carbon deposits from arcing during use. It's easy to pull apart by removing the metal sleeve holding the rubber boot. Carefully lift off the thumb toggle and remove the metal rocker. Using some very fine sand paper, clean the metal rocker and the two contacts at the base of the switch. Reassemble the switch and that should fix your problem.

Note if you disconnect the bullet connectors at the engine and check continuity, it will appear to be OK. The problem only shows when there is an electrical load, ie the solenoids.

Good luck

David

Issue with my Tilt switch as well.
Problem is that it doesn't 'Click' any more. Electrically it works but nothing seems to be holding it to Center so the slightest bump will engage either the UP or the Down.
I took it all apart, it looks spotless inside. I couldn't see anything broken or rsted that would cause this no-click problem. I didn't see how , mechanically, it ever did have the positive Click.

Tony, there should be a spring between the plastic toggle button you press and the metal rocker. It's the spring that gives it the snap action as it pivots the rocker from one end to the other.

Can't explain how it dissappeared

David
