Yammy vmax 150 stalls when put into grear

Hey guys, i am by no means anything remotely close to a mechanic, and a buddy of mine is having outboard issues. Motor starts fine, but stalls out when he puts it into gear. Any ideas on where to start? Motor is a 98 vmax 150 dual prop. Thanks for any input!

How many RPMs when the motor is idling in neutral? You may just need to adjust the idle screw...but I'm not a mechanic and am learning as I go but I had a similar problem and this seemed to help.

I'm no mechanic either. Have you checked compression and spark?
