Yanmar OUTBOARD diesel ???

I never knew there was a outboard diesel engine. The other day saw one, yanmar outboard diesel engine... anybody with any experience with these???

I have never seen one but I understand that they were sold in the US at one time but no more. Do an inquiry on Google & see what you come up with.

Saw a test on those in the late 80'es , made in 3 sizes, 18, 27 and 36hp. Don't know what they weigh , but I think it was the hefty price tag which made them a flop. <br /><br />There have also been made a Ruggerini diesel outboard in Italy for quite some years. Saw one of those in person many years ago, the 20hp was probably as big and heavy as a Verado.

G,Day. I recently saw a number of these motors in use in Queensland Australia. The 36HP appears to be about the same weight as an average 75HP. they are very noisy but appeared to run well.
