Re: year and fuel mix please ........

the fuel mix is a 50:1 ratio....OMC made a revision on the mix...so its now a 50:1 mix....

ok I looked at one on my manuals and that model number shows its a 1986...only thing missing is the R on the end of the model number....

so make your mix 50 to 1 now...and tour set to go....

on a side note....you may want to change the water pump if its not been done recently...save you headaches later.....

also run seafoam in your gas mix ..it helps to keep engine clean...read up on sea foam here...

the tell tale will be on the drivers side on the engine on the bottom plate towards the back some....its a little black plastic disk thing protruding .....about the size of of a quarter or bit bigger....

if you get no water coming out...shut it off..disconnect hose from engine...then snake it with some mechanics wire or the plastic trim string from a weed wacker..make sure its clean...the start again see if water comes out..but I would still change it...since you dont know when it was last changed....

the plugs should be QL77JC4

also drain the lowerend oil and see if you have any water intrusion..if its milky white after running you have water coming in..if you drain it before you run it check for water mixed with the oil...

very easy motor to work on....get the factory manual for it...the OMC one ..not the after market ones..I got mine on Ebay for 12.00..worth every penny...that manual covers from 9.9 to 30 horse...worth it weight on gold...

I stand corrected then..thanks Ezeke...the R was not on the engine number in my manual..so I presumed it was a 86....

just looked at my manual..it is for a 1987..lol..just it was copyrighted in 86 ..my mistake ..My manual says CU and that's the date code for 1987....

The trailing letters on the model numbers reflect the factory run during the model year, or a change during the model year. It's a little confusing.
