year and how to start

I was given a Evinrude 9.9 motor model#104245 serial#E10001408. What year would that be? Also I never had a small motor so not sure how to start it eith the mixture seting? Also the twist handle does not move not sure if itd frozen or some kind of lock. Any help would be great. Just trying to get it running. Thanks

Appears to be a 2000 model. Go to BRP's website and download the owners manual ... it will tell all you need to know to operate it.

10424 = 1974 9.9 Evinrude ... the "5" on the end of the model # is probably a run number ...

You can look up exploded parts diagrams at www.shop.evinrude.com ... or several other parts sellers web sites like iShopMarine.com and boats.net ...

I am not going to keep it. I just want to get it running. My main prblem is the twist handle if its frozen or some kind of twist release.

The throttle has a stop on it which only allows it to open so far when in nuetral (and maybe reverse on that motor).

Ok, the problem with the throtle in the tiller handle was it was frozen. The pastic gear broke. I went on BRP's website but cannot find the parts break down of the tiller handle. Can anyone help?

Yes thats what I needed. Didn't look under Exhaust housing. My bad. Now anyone know a good place for used parts for this or parting out?need the shaft and gears that go from the tiller handle all the way in.
