Hello, I just purchased another project motor from a yard sale  The person had no idea about it just that it had compression the whole motor was spray painted white its made by sears, has forward and reverse gears its a two cylinder, the tag in the front of the engine is badly rubbed off.
The serial #( 700355r121332 ) but I can only read the last four numbers of the model # which is ( 0150 ).the top corner says that its a 141 hp and the inside of the engine cover says it a 16.4 cubic inch . Would any one know what year motor this is and model name or any kind of info or direct me to some one that might be able to help .

ps, would there be an impression on the rear of the tag if I took the tag off or should I not try to do that. Thanks paul

Re: year and size of engine please help

64, built by McCulloch for Sears.14.1hp at 5,000.64 was originaly rated at 100:1 using McCulloch 100:1 oil.I would run 50:1 using TCW3 rated oil.
Out of business about 40 years. The antique outboard motor club at www.aomci.org may be able to help with parts.

Yes it is a 14 hp.I'm pretty sure it is a Sears, Previously Elgin.
Model number 574.60150.McCulloch was originally Scott Atwater purchased by McCulloch about 1959.The scott guy at "ask the scott guy"may be able to help with parts info and perhaps some history.
