Year Model and Parts for 3 HP Johnson

Hi,

I have a 3HP Johnson Model# JW21E and Serial# E2640890. Can anyone tell me the Year Model and where is the best place to get a Waterpump Kit? Also, it has a mixture knob on the front; Left to Lean and Right to Rich? I took the screw out and am not sure how to reset it back? Question: Should I turn it All the way IN (Bottom it out) and then so many turns out?

It's a 1966 and Iboats sells a Sierra impeller pump repair kit, comes with the pump base plate and impeller.

Not sure about the carb, I have a 52 3hp but i'm sure the procedure is different.

All the way in ,{not forceful} out 1 turn to start with then fine tune while running.

Thank You...should I assume that it should be full Rich at hi power settings and/or juts adjust to get peak RPM and slightly enriched?

turning the needle left, will make the mixture richer. Turning it right will make it leaner. Nice motor. I have a 58 model, myself.

When I replaced my water pump, I only needed the impeller. I would suggest buying OEM. I read a post here a couple weeks ago where some one had trouble with a Sierra brand impeller. If you need a housing, likely, you may have to find a good used one, but the dealor might be able to get one for you.

It's cheaper to buy the whole OE kit that comes with the housing than to buy the housing alone. Part # 0379770.

Laingsoutboards sells them for 64.95 if you want to order online, but I would imagine any authorized BRP/Evinrude dealer could get them for you.
