Year of 70 hp johnson

Is there any way to figure out the year of a motor by cross-referencing the tag number off the carbs? Tag number on the carbs is 39481170MX2DJ

Don't think that's gonna help much. If ya can't find the little plate on the transom clamp, look for a Welch plug (shiney plug, about the size of a quarter) with the model nr. on it.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty
