Year of 9.9 yamaha&waterpump change

Hi guys.A friend asked me how to tell what year his 9.9 Yammie is because he wants to replace the water pump.I told him I would post and get him as much info as my iboats buddies were willing to give me.Thanks guys!! He is a newbie and can use all the help he can get.

My buddy thinks it was purchased new 3-4 years ago.Boy is he wrong!!
