I just got an engine from my uncle last night. The model number has been bent and scratched and I can't make any of it out. I know its an older motor, my guess would be 60s or 70s. The serial number is J2530921 if that helps at all. Is there anywhere else the model number would be other than on the tag/plate on the outside of outboard? Thanks.

a '65 would make sense, the boat I got with it is from the same year. The quater shaped plug on the block just had the serial number and it wasn't labeled but I can make out a J25...... on the tag so I figured it to be such. I could also make out an "M" on the model # so that fits even better. Thanks for the help guys. I'm sure I'll be making more posts as I start to try and get this thing running, its been sitting for close to 10 years. Any big things I should look for?
