Year of Johnson Seahorse 9.9hp

Bought a great looking motor, but information plate is missing. Plug on block has a number C8147130. White in colour with white engine cover. I have searched and searched and realize the model number explains everything. Can anyone tell me the approximate year. Thanks!!!!!

Sorry. From your description it can be anything from 1974 to 2002 I guess.<br />Was that the only number you found on the plug?<br /><br />1974: 10E74-10EL74 or 10R74-10RL74 <br />E electric L long shaft R rope starter<br />The same up to 1979 (10E79 etc). Yes that is the only number on the plug. Can I look anywhere else?? I know covers and decals can be changed, but could a certain style reveal the year. My problem is I am getting some water coming out the leg, but not "peeing" from the top hole and guess an impeller replacement is the remedie. Are the impellers the same for quite a few models?? Maybe I should remove the impeller and match up the part. Any suggestions on determining that this is infact an impeller problem. Thanks!!!!!!!

Just make sure the hose is free from anything inside it... if it is you need an impeller. All the impellers from 1974> up are the same just take it apart and match it
