Is there a way to tell the year and what size motor a lower unit came off of? I have one I'm going to list on EBay that has the wrong shaft length for my 120 1996 force. I was told that it would fit any 120 from 1994 to 1999 and it would also fit a 90 from the same years. The more info i can give when selling the better. Any help is appreciated.

Re: year of lower unit

Risky business selling something without first hand knowledge...... but for starters, I would find and mention all the case part numbers of the lower unit along with the shaft length in inches, the number of splines on the driven shaft, the number of splines on the propeller shaft, and the propeller number if one is there.

You should try and research the lower unit using those part numbers. Then check to see how many years and models those numbers were installed in for top $$$.......Otherwise it is best described as a "Hand-Held Portable Marine Ashtray" in my opinion.

Re: year of lower unit

Its a 25" one piece shaft, with a 13 spline count, and a 15 spline count on the prop shaft. I was told it came off of a 1996 force but it has slight differences than the original one that came off my motor which has a 20" shaft. Part of my reason into wanting to know what it will fit is, i was told it would fit a 1994 and on comparing the two the 94 had a two piece shaft. Other than that they looked the same. Just trying to get all the info i can before putting it up for sale.
